Kelly reunited!

Well, the little Min Pin we had been calling Bambi is actually named Kelly and was claimed by her owner today! We had given up hope of reuniting her and were actively trying to place her in a new home. She was lost in Medway and the family had been searching for her there. They had called their ACO, but she was out sick and didn't call them to let them know she was at our shelter. Her owner was so relieved to learn she is safe and sound.

New dog at the shelter

Nellie the Coonhound came to the shelter through a friend in western MA who does dog rescue. She is very sweet and lovable and is enjoying meeting the volunteers and going for lots of walks. She is only a year old and it is hard to believe a dog this nice and pretty was found as a stray.

More happy tails this week

Skylar, a 10 year old Maltese, was recently adopted from our shelter by a family that already had a Maltese of their own. We were very happy to receive this photo and a nice note letting us know how well she had adapted to her new home and new canine brother. That's Skylar on the left looking as cute as ever.

Community Service

We are very fortunate to have a tremendous amount of community support and many of our best volunteers are high school students who started volunteering as part of their community service requirement. Yesterday we were lucky enough to have a small troop of very helpful Girl Scouts lend a hand. Here's a photo from yesterday of one of our Conures clearly enjoying the company of one of girls.

It's raining cats

Seems to be the time of year for stray cats coming to the shelter. In the last 3 days, 7 new kitties have been brought to the shelter. We have so many that the newest kitten is in a crate in the lobby. If you are thinking of adopting a cat or kitten, this would be an excellent time to do so. The beautiful blue eyed kitty in the photo is one of the strays we are hoping will soon be claimed by her owner.

Rat Terrier back home with her owner

The Rat Terrier is back with her owner after spending a week at the shelter, thanks to the efforts of the editor of the Dover-Sherborn Press. We sent her the dog's photo and asked if she would run it in this week's paper and when she replied, she mentioned that the Needham Police had a report of a stolen Rat Terrier. After a few phone calls, owner and dog were back together again!

Sammy adopted!

Little Sammy, a Min Pin we took in almost two weeks ago, went to her new home today. We were sorry to see her go because she is such a sweetie, but happy to see her get such a great family.

The little Rat Terrier found in Dover last week is now the only dog at the shelter.
