Nala Finds the Right Home

Nala was returned to us when the first placement we made wasn't a good fit for her or the couple that adopted her. She is such a sweet and joyful dog and everyone at the shelter loved her and hoped she would soon find just the right family. Luckily her Petfinder listing caught the eye of a wonderful couple in Maine, and Nala's new mom drove 4 hours just to meet her! It was a good match and Nala is now happily ensconced in her new home, where she is fitting right in. As always, we were thrilled to receive this photo and a nice update about how she is settling in.

Note from Super Cat Sundae

We received this cute photo and note from Sundae, a kitty adopted from the shelter a few years ago. Her family refers to her as "Super Cat Sundae" thanks to her work finding and killing mice they never even knew they had in their house when she first moved in.

Dear Friends at Medfield Shelter,

Life is good here in Westwood!! Except....remember those mice I found when I first moved here? They're all gone!

    Play date for Nala

Nala (black and white fuzzy dog) loves to run and play so she is a good match for her new friends Sundance (Newfie) and Daisy (Saint Bernard adopted 3 years ago from the Medfield Shelter). The threesome have been going for walks together and Nala is so well-behaved she can even be off leash when they all go hiking in Rocky Woods.

    Bubba in his new home

Bubba was extremely fortunate to catch the eye of one of our dog walking volunteers and is happily fitting in with her two kids and fun-loving Golden Retriever. This is a video of him playing in his new backyard.

    Very Successful Adoption Week

Last week was one of our most successful adoption weeks in a long time. Some of the pets adopted were with us for such a short time that they never even made it to our Web site. We are extremely thankful to every single person who chooses to adopt a pet from our shelter (or any shelter for that matter). We have had a greater than average number of adoptions at the shelter in the past few weeks, which makes room for us to save more pets.

We have already heard from many of the families that adopted Cheetoh, Lulu, Salem, Daisy, Mindy, Snickers & Patches, Isabelle, Brewster, Martin, Eddie, Skippy, and Hercules last week and look forward to hearing from even more of our recent adopters (hint, hint).

    Martin adopted, new dogs arrived

Martin was finally adopted today! He spent 3 months at the shelter and just never found the right family until his second pet of the week appearance in the Hometown Weekly.

Bubba and Ali, a Lab mix and a Border Collie/Lab mix, arrived today and Ali is already trying out a possible new home! They are both really nice dogs who just need some exercise and training.

Skippy takes time to smell the roses

Skippy the cat is still living in the lobby since he doesn't get along with the other cats. He is great with dogs, and extremely helpful when we are on the phone or working at the computer. He is young and playful and just a tiny bit fresh, so in spite of having a number of adoption meetings, he has not found a new home. Anyone looking for a really nice companion cat? Call the Shelter at (508) 359-8989 if you would like to meet Skippy.

Nala, Shammy and Sparky have all made themselves at home at the shelter and will hopefully all have new families very soon.
