Chance in his new home!

After having some vet care and tests this week, Chance went home with his new family today. They gave him an adorable summer haircut to help him handle the warmer weather better and he couldn't look any cuter! He's still a bit unsure of his new brother the Mastiff, also a rescue pup, but is fine with his family's 3 rescue kitties.

Book Club Donation

If kids are the hope for the future - then today was a promising day at the Medfield Animal Shelter. Any human with compassion knows that our entire country needs to do a better job for companion animals. This group of girls took action and we are very thankful to them. Dani, Gabbie, Hannah, Julia, Kate, Katie, Natalija and Taylor are members of a book club. They read a book about a stray dog and decided to do something to help the local stray animals. They took up a collection and brought some much needed supplies to help the animals of the Medfield Shelter. The girls are shown here with our very sweet cat named Penny - who is one stray who will benefit from the girls' thoughtfulness.

Max the Puggle and his new brother Tug

Max the Puggle is very shy due to having spent his first 3 years in a cage at a puppy mill, but he loves other dogs, so we knew we only wanted to place him in a new home with another dog.

Tug the Puggle came to meet Max and the two were cordial, but not terribly excited about the meeting. All that changed in a matter of days and we received these photos today along with a note saying they play together, sleep together and Max is Tug's shadow!

Missing Jack Russell from Dover

Update 6/18 -- Annie is back home safe and sound!

Have you seen a little Jack Russell out wandering around on her own? Annie left her yard on Yorkshire Drive in Dover on Saturday, June 13th, shortly after having a bath, so she is wearing no collar or ID. Her owner is frantically looking for her, so we are trying to spread the word. Please call the Medfield Animal Shelter: (508) 359-8989 if you have seen her.

Pearl the Bunny Finds a Great Home!

Pearl was adopted yesterday by the same family that recently adopted Luigi the pet rat. They were kind enough to send us an update this morning letting us know how well she is already doing in their home.

I just wanted to let you know that Pearl (now Ingrid, or Inga for short) is doing great. We can definitely tell she is a house bunny! She is so content just hopping around her room checking things out. We kept her in her room last night so she could settle but it’s very clear she’s eager to explore the rest of the house. She briefly met the cats and dogs … they cats are terrified but the dogs are of course very excited will still careful not to get too close. She took it all in stride and did not seem bothered at all, just went on cleaning herself and hopping around. She went to approach one of the cats and they bolted in the other direction. I think she’ll do just fine. She has a great appetite and is especially fond of her greens. Whenever we go in the room she comes hopping over to the door and lays down to be petted. Then she does what we are calling ‘flat bunny’ where she puts her legs out and her ears back and closes her eyes while we’re petting her. Al walked in to her room this morning and she was sprawled out on her side on the carpet. She seems to be very comfortable.

She is also very clean. I was very impressed that after an hour long car ride back home she didn’t have an accident in the crate but waited until she could use her litterbox.

We love her very much already and promise to take great care of her and spoil her rotten. We’ll take some pictures of both her and Dimitri over the weekend and I’ll send them to you on Monday.

Thanks so much for our new baby!!! She is such a sweet girl.

Lemonade Stand Benefits the Shelter

Second grader Rebekah Morrison and third grader Sophie Lussier recently decided to raise money for the Medfield Animal Shelter by selling lemonade. The girls were out there several weekends and raised $80! They came by today to drop off their donation and meet the pets their money will be helping.

Update on Abe and Champ

Abe and Champ were adopted together yesterday much to our delight, as they were such good friends. For anyone that volunteered or visited during their stay at the shelter, there is nothing better than reading an update like their new owner was kind enough to send this morning!

Just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that the boys did very well in their new home yesterday. Abe immediately began exploring with Champ a bit more nervous(he'd come upstairs and slink along but would cry and bolt if he heard any noises). By dinner time they were chasing each other in and out of the bedrooms and Abe slept on our bed with us last night. He would also walk down the hallway, see me sitting at the counter in the kitchen and launch himself into my lap! I'm impressed with his sense of balance!

It was raining so I didn't let them out into the courtyard yet but they both were fascinated by the looks of it and spent a lot of time sitting and looking out of the screen doors. My husband will probably be out there with them today and I definitely will tonight! I dropped my camera last weekend so am without anything to use at this point but as soon as I get someone to take some pictures of them in their new "digs" I'll send them along.
Thanks again for our new friends.
